Alescent Body of Knowledge¶
The Alescent Body of Knowledge (ABoK) is the governed corpus of Alescent-specific strategy, operating models, applied Practices, Products, Platforms, Patterns, Playbooks, commercial constructs, institutional knowledge, brand guidance, and derivative-asset governance through which Alescent applies and advances Value Realization.
The ABoK is the umbrella knowledge system for Alescent. It is broader than the Alescent Strategic Framework and broader than the Alescent Canon. It permits authoritative institutional doctrine, developing applied knowledge, reusable assets, source material, Perspectives, and derivative outputs to coexist without assigning equal authority to every artifact.
Relationship to the Alescent Strategic Framework¶
The Alescent Strategic Framework is the principal organizing framework within the ABoK. It defines how Alescent understands itself, operates, engages, distributes value, develops and governs intellectual property, applies the Value Realization Body of Knowledge, and presents itself to customers, partners, Team Members, and the market.
The Alescent Strategic Framework organizes, but does not exhaust, the ABoK.
Relationship to the Value Realization Body of Knowledge¶
The ABoK depends on the Value Realization Body of Knowledge (VRBoK) as the portable and generalized source for Value Realization doctrine.
The ABoK may:
- apply VRBoK concepts in Alescent-specific contexts;
- extend them through governed institutional or applied constructs;
- operationalize them through operating models, Practices, Patterns, Platforms, Products, and Playbooks;
- commercialize them through Offerings and engagement structures;
- communicate them through brand, website, proposal, and derivative assets.
The ABoK must not silently redefine portable VRBoK concepts. A proposed change to portable doctrine must be routed through Value Realization canonical governance.
Core Structure¶
The ABoK contains the following principal areas:
- Alescent Strategic Foundations. Alescent identity, purpose, promise, philosophy, positioning, audiences, semantic model, and controlled institutional language. The existing
010. Alescent Canonpath is retained during the transitional migration, but its content is governed as the foundational canonical layer within the ABoK rather than as the complete ABoK. - Operating Models. Engagement, Team Member, commercial, value-distribution, Product and intellectual-property, account, and leadership models.
- Applied Value Library. Curated Offerings, Patterns, Practices, Products, Platforms, Playbooks, Proof, performance measures, Perspectives, and commercialization artifacts.
- Brand and Communications. Voice, visual identity, presentation standards, reusable language, and content-creation controls.
- Website and Derivative Assets. Website content architecture, derivative registers, templates, publishing handoffs, and downstream governance.
- Governance. ABoK governance, canonical authority, change and decision registers, source intake, derivative-impact management, and stewardship.
Canonical Authority¶
Canon is retained within the ABoK as the designation for content formally accepted as authoritative. It is not the public-facing name for the complete institutional knowledge corpus.
The following distinctions apply:
- ABoK identifies the complete governed Alescent knowledge corpus.
- Alescent Strategic Framework organizes the principal Alescent concepts, models, and institutional relationships.
- Alescent Canon identifies the authoritative subset of Alescent-specific knowledge.
- Applied Value Library curates reusable applied assets whose authority and lifecycle status must be explicit.
- Source Material and Perspectives support development but are not authoritative by themselves.
- Derivative Assets communicate or operationalize governed source material but must not silently redefine it.
Relationship to the Alescent Legal Framework¶
The Alescent Legal Framework remains a distinct operative framework. It is informed by the ABoK and may incorporate selected ABoK definitions, principles, operating models, commercial constructs, schedules, policies, and governance rules.
The Legal Framework is not merely a knowledge library. Its instruments may create rights, obligations, authorities, limitations, remedies, assignments, and enforceable relationships. Where a legal instrument conflicts with explanatory or applied ABoK content, the applicable executed instrument governs the parties and matter within its legal scope.
Authority and Lifecycle Status¶
ABoK artifacts should identify their status as one or more of the following, as appropriate:
canonical;draft;proposed;perspective;reference;illustrative;derivative;deprecated;superseded.
Folder placement alone must not be treated as sufficient evidence of authority.
Governance¶
The ABoK is governed through:
- ABoK governance and canonical authority rules;
- the Alescent Semantic Model and controlled institutional vocabulary;
- the Canonical Review Backlog where a matter spans portable and Alescent-specific knowledge;
- the Alescent Change Register and Canonical Decision Register;
- Applied Value Library governance;
- Legal Framework governance for operative instruments;
- source-intake, evidence, derivative-asset, and publishing controls;
- explicit authority, lifecycle, dependency, and source metadata.
See Bodies of Knowledge and Canonical Authority for the cross-system governance model.
